What kind of object is the microbiome? My presentation will discuss a specific field within post-genomics, that is microbiome research. Microbiome research is reconfiguring practices and ideas of health. The argument of my presentation will be that before speculating about the microbiome and about how it modifies health, society and social theory, it is important to understand which kind of object is the microbiome. Paying attention to that allows us to appreciate its impact on health concepts and practices.
