What happens when ocean, sky and land are turned digital? Deep-sea mining and
oil extraction, greenhouse gasses emissions tracking and outer space
explorations, precision agriculture and animal telemetry are only some
examples of practices which quantify and liquefy traditional human activities
in order to increase efficiency and productivity, or to provide solutions in
response to societal needs. If digital translation is always a betrayal, in
this panel we wonder who and what is betrayed by turning the ocean, the sky
and the land digital.
