Location: ONLINE
The next WTMC PhD Workshop will be held from Monday 7 until Wednesday 9 November 2022 (online). This workshop takes on geographies of knowledge and STS. How do space and place matter, when it comes to knowledge and to its study in our field? Which aspects of geography make a difference for organizations, hierarchies and patterns of interaction? How does geography become embodied in technical artifacts or scientific protocols? This workshop will consider these questions through the work of scholars spread out over the world and will also include an exploration of anti-colonial methods. Speakers at the workshop will include Annemarie Mol (University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Jakkrit Sangkhamanee (Chulalongkorn University, Thailand), Itty Abraham (National University of Singapore), Cristobal Bonelli (University of Amsterdam) and Sandra Calkins, Freie Universitat Berlin. WTMC PhD candidates can register for free. For external PhD candidates a participation fee of € 695 is charged. After their acceptance, external participants will receive an email with an invoice and online-payment request and receipt. To participate, you must pay the fee via the online payment request. Registration to the workshop is final after the advance payment has been received by WTMC. The registration form for this workshop is now available here. Please register by 4 October 2022 ! NB: For this workshop, a few free seats are reserved for STS PhDs who are affiliated with institutions in ‘Global South’ countries AND who do not have access to institutional funding. If you are interested in one of the free seats, please send a 1-page letter in which you explain your motivation why you would like to join the workshop directly to the training coordinators Alexandra Supper: a.supper@maastrichtuniversity.nl and Andreas Weber: a.weber@utwente.nl by 4 October 2022. If you have any content-related questions regarding this workshop, please feel free to contact the training coordinators Alexandra Supper or Andreas Weber.
